Daniels Fund awards $5.1 million in
grants and scholarships in Utah in 2023

The Daniels Fund distributed $5.1 million in grants to nonprofit organizations and scholarships to students in Utah in 2023. Throughout its four-state region of Utah, Colorado, New Mexico, and Wyoming, the Daniels Fund provided $67.5 million in grants and scholarships last year. Since the Daniels Fund was established in 2000, grant and scholarship awards total more than $1.1 billion.

Guided by Bill Daniels' philanthropic vision, Utah communities have witnessed the positive impact of $3.4 million in grants this past year. The Daniels Fund’s Utah grantmaking strategy focuses primarily on K-12 education, civics education, and youth sports, in addition to the funding areas of aging, disabilities, drug & alcohol addiction, early childhood education, homeless & disadvantaged. Organizations awarded grants in 2023 for programs serving people in Utah include ACE Scholarships, American Legion Utah Boys State Foundation, Common Sense Institute, Family Promise of Ogden, Family Support Center, Fit to Recover, Fullmer Legacy Foundation, Jewish Family Service, Libertas Institute, National Alliance for Public Charter Schools, Northeastern Utah Friends Against Family Violence, The Other Side Academy, People Helping People, Pinyon Montessori, Special Olympics Utah, Utah Education Fits All, Utah Soccer Alliance Recreation, VELA Education Fund, and YCC Family Crisis Center Utah students received $1.7 million in scholarships in 2023 through the Daniels Fund’s two distinct scholarship programs. The Daniels Scholarship Program provides college scholarships to high school seniors who demonstrate need, great potential, strong character, and have big dreams. The Boundless Opportunity Scholarship provides funding to participating colleges to offer scholarships to non-traditional students committed to upward mobility.

The Daniels Fund also provided funding for ethics education at the University of Utah through the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative.
