Winners of 2024 Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Case Competition — University of Colorado and University of Utah
TThe Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative’s twelfth annual Case Competition took place April 19. Students from the University of Colorado Boulder were the first place winners in the undergraduate track of the competition and the University of Utah placed first in the graduate track.
The competition immerses college students in a challenging business ethics case, mirroring real-world scenarios, and equips them with practical tools for ethical decision-making to apply in their future careers. Teams were evaluated using the Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Principles: integrity, trust, accountability, transparency, fairness, respect, rule of law, and viability.
In the undergraduate track, the second place team was from the University of Denver and the third place team was from University of Wyoming. University of Wyoming placed second and University of Colorado Colorado Springs placed third in the graduate track.
“Bill Daniels believed that his reputation for integrity was his most valuable business asset,” said Hanna Skandera, President & CEO of the Daniels Fund. "Bill would be thrilled to see these students applying ethical principles as the foundation that will shape their careers as future business leaders."
The Daniels Fund Ethics Initiative Collegiate Program was established in 2010 to instill a high standard of ethics in students and strengthen principle-based ethics education. The program consists of nine university partners in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming.
The Daniels Fund, established by cable television pioneer Bill Daniels, is a private charitable foundation dedicated to making life better for the people of Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, and Wyoming through its grants program, scholarship program, and ethics initiative.
