Milestone Set as Board Approves $4.6M in Third Quarter Grants
Fund Surpasses $100M in Grants
 

With the recent approval by the board of directors of $4.6 million in grants, the Daniels Fund has surpassed $100 million in cumulative grants since grantmaking began in the year 2000, it was announced by Linda Childears, president and CEO.

 

“Bill Daniels was a demanding businessman and carefully defined his goals for the Fund,” said Childears. “Our grants program provides key funding to organizations serving people in need and Bill would have been delighted at all that has been accomplished so far through his legacy,” she added.

 

Colorado nonprofits awarded grants of $100,000 or more in the third quarter include: Colorado Bright Beginnings, Denver, $100,000; Colorado League of Charter Schools, Denver, $125,000; Goodwill Industries of Denver; $200,000; Leaders Challenge, Denver, $250,000; Lutheran Medical Center Community Foundation, Exempla Lutheran Hospice Center, Arvada, $100,000; OpenWorld Learning, Denver, $150,000; Parents Challenge, Colorado Springs, $170,000; and Rebuilding Together Metro Denver, Inc., Denver, $100,000.

 

The program areas eligible for grants through the Daniels Fund fall under the categories of: Aging, Alcoholism & Substance Abuse, Amateur Sports, Disabilities, Education, Homeless & Disadvantaged and Youth Development.

 

The Daniels Fund operates the Daniels College Prep and Scholarship Program and the Daniels Fund Grants Program in Colorado, New Mexico, Wyoming and Utah. The Fund was established in 1997 by Bill Daniels, a pioneer in cable television known for his kindness and generosity to those in need. When he died in 2000, his estate transferred to the Fund, making it the largest foundation in the Rocky Mountain Region.
