Daniels Scholarship Program
Helping young people of character achieve success in college and in life
A scholarship program focused on helping scholars build successful lives
The Daniels Scholarship Program seeks students who stand out for their character, leadership, and service. The program encompasses much more than financial support. Students awarded the Daniels Scholarship become part of a family, and gain access to a support network designed to help them achieve success in college and beyond.
Character, leadership, and service
Students are selected to become Daniels Scholars because they embody the principles and values Bill Daniels identified as hallmarks of the program. Daniels Scholars stand out because they demonstrate:
Exceptional character, ethics, and integrity
A hardworking nature and the drive to be successful
A concern for others and a commitment to give back to their communities
Who can apply for the Daniels Scholarship Program?
To be eligible to apply for the Daniels Scholarship Program, students must be current high school seniors graduating during the 2013-2014 academic year from a high school in Colorado, New Mexico, Utah, or Wyoming. They must be a current resident of one of those four states and at the time of application be a citizen or permanent resident of the United States. They must also demonstrate financial need and meet other requirements of the scholarship.
What costs are covered by the Daniels Scholarship Program?
Each year, approximately 250 new Daniels Scholars are selected from among thousands who apply. They go through a rigorous application, interview, and selection process. The reward of being selected for the program is the opportunity to obtain a four-year college education at any nonprofit accredited college or university in the United States, complete with financial and personal support throughout the college journey.
Daniels Scholarships are not full-ride. Instead, they are “last dollar” and are intended to cover the unmet need of the student. The scholarship amount is determined after all other financial aid resources and an Expected Family Contribution have been applied. Daniels Scholarships pay toward a student’s required college expenses, including tuition and fees, room and board, books and supplies, and miscellaneous educational expenses.
Significant benefits for those ready to meet the challenge
The Daniels Scholarship Program requires serious and ongoing effort, dedication to honoring the program’s core principles of character, leadership, and service, and successfully meeting a wide range of program requirements. For those equal to the challenge, the rewards and benefits are significant. Daniels Scholars gain access to personalized support, professional development, and a far-reaching network of like-minded individuals that continues long after graduation:
