A Daniels Fund Impact Story
| College Attended: University of New Mexico Major: Criminology and Spanish Scholarship Year: 2006 |
Please describe what it means to be a Daniels Scholar: To be a Daniels Scholar you have to have the drive and the willingness to keep going with your education, even when circumstances are difficult. I was blessed by being given this scholarship and having the chance to show how successful I can be in helping and giving to others and the community at large.
What do you like most about being in college? I like learning different things and that's one of the best things I like about college.
What has been the greatest challenge so far in college? The greatest challenge in college has been keeping up in 300 and 400 level classes and trying to balance work, school, and a social life.
What advice would you offer someone who is applying to become a Daniels Scholar? I would advise them to volunteer and to recognize that going to college and getting a degree is not only to help yourself, but to help the community that helped you get there. Know that you are special, and people will see it reflected in you.
