A Daniels Fund Impact Story
| College Attended: Weber State University Major: Computer Science Scholarship Year: 2005 |
Please describe what it means to you to be a Daniels Scholar: The Daniels Fund has been an amazing eye opener for me. Coming from a small town in Wyoming, they gave me the opportunity to meet new people and go to new places, as well as attend college, which has always been a goal of mine. They also gave me the opportunity to do service in my community, as well as reinforcing the value of contributing to the people and places around us.
What do you like most about being in college? I love learning. I enjoy expanding my horizons and constantly picking up new ideas and fleshing them out. I also love meeting new people.
What has been the greatest challenge so far in college? Staying on track. I stopped out for 2 years, and it was awesome of the Daniels Fund to allow me to do that, even if I may regret it a little now. It gave me the opportunity to focus on my family when I needed to, as well as figure out what I really wanted to do.
What advice would you offer someone who is applying to become a Daniels Scholar? Stick to it. Trust me, it’s much easier to get down to business and get it done than to put it off.
