Bill Daniels loved sports. As a young man, he was a Golden Gloves boxing champion in New Mexico and played high school basketball and football. Later in life, he owned the American Basketball Association’s Utah Stars, was a part-owner of the Los Angeles Lakers, and founded the “Prime Ticket” cable sports network.
Bill Daniels saw athletics as a way to teach discipline and teamwork. The Daniels Fund carries out his vision by supporting organizations that provide quality youth sports programs. The Daniels Fund places special emphasis on programs that foster increased sportsmanship, confidence, discipline, and teamwork among players and coaches. The Daniels Fund also honors Bill Daniels’ direction to support national and international amateur sports competition.
