Title:  Research Analyst

Department:  Information Technology

Supervisor(s):  Vice President, Information Technology and Business Applications  

Annual Salary:  Commensurate with Experience and Skills

Position Summary

The Research Analyst uses advanced mathematical and analytical methods to help Daniels Fund provide data, analytical reports and problem solving options for decision makers. The Research Analyst uses sophisticated computer software such as databases, statistical programs, and modeling packages to seek, provide, analyze and interpret data. The primary goal of the Research Analyst is to insure that decision makers have the most relevant analysis to move forward with ideas, visions, and decisions.  


Position Duties 

  • Utilizes analytical skills in a wide range of methods, such as forecasting, data mining, and statistical analysis, to examine and interpret data.  
  • Utilizes critical thinking skills to determine what information is relevant to a given analysis and to identify shortcomings or pitfalls in data sets as well as recommendations on how to improve data sets.
  • Uses ingenuity to identify solutions to problems that are not usually obvious, and thinks creatively to solve problems.
  • Utilizes math skills to develop models and methods rooted in statistics, calculus, linear algebra, and other advanced mathematical disciplines.
  • Writes memos, reports, and other documents outlining findings and analysis for decision makers, executives, and other audiences.
  • Utilizes communication skills to gather information, interview people, and communicate technical data to people who do not have a technical or data background.


Position Qualifications 


  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, mathematics, or business.
  • Master of Business Administration degree preferred.
  • Demonstrated creative problem-solving skills.
  • Demonstrated strong written and verbal communication skills. 
  • Demonstrated excellent organizational and analytical skills.
  • Demonstrated attention to detail balanced with a strategic perspective.
  • Demonstrated ability to achieve deadlines and adjust to changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, as a member of a team, and in collaborative environments.
  • Demonstrated commitment to customer service, including a sense of urgency for issue resolution and follow-up.
  • Ability to represent the organization and its work in a highly competent and professional manner both internally and externally.


  • Demonstrated knowledge of computerized data management and micro computing systems.
  • High level of proficiency with word processing, spreadsheet, database, statistical, and presentation software and Microsoft Office 2013 Suite.
  • High level of proficiency in creating and delivering reports from large relational database management systems.
  • Extensive knowledge of SQL scripting and query.
  • Experience with reporting tools such as SPSS and Tableau.


Physical Working Conditions and Mental/Visual Demands  

  • Professional office environment.
  • Workload may be stressful due to deadlines and changing priorities.
  • Extensive keyboard and computer monitor use.
  • Exposure to sensitive and confidential information. 
  • Occasional evening and weekend work required.
